Cafe Milano Worker Relief Fund (Berkeley, CA)

The baristas at Cafe Milano, led by Martin and Jorge, have been there for Berkeley students and the campus community for literal generations. They made the espresso, bagels, and chicken sandwiches that kept us going semester after semester. Let’s come together and support the workers who were a vital part of the lives of so many at Cal each and every day before COVID-19.

I am a UC Berkeley grad student finishing my PhD this spring. Martin and Milano helped me get through my Berkeley BA (Mocha Bianca), MA (black coffee and bagel with cream cheese), and now my PhD (Double Americano). They ask about my mother and my children every time I’m there. They give us the WiFi password and they keep the bathroom clean for all. And they make the best cup of coffee in the world.

Once at Milano, I heard a customer in front of me tell Martin that he remembered him vividly from his student days at Berkeley in the 1980s. His story was similar to mine. If you love and miss Milano and their workers like I do, please contribute to this campaign.

All funds will be shared by the essential, daily workers at Cafe Milano.
