Meagan, Evan and Nina need our help!
Since Meagan's birthday in October of 2025, she has been struggling with her health and was being treated for what doctors thought was pneumonia. After multiple rounds of antibiotics and several ER visits, a CT scan revealed a mass in her lung. In April of 2026, a bronchoscopy confirmed a rare and serious cancer, a primary malignant neuroendocrine tumor of the lung. This type of cancer is not related to smoking and often affects younger, otherwise healthy people, and in many cases there is no clear cause. On April 20th, she underwent surgery at UCSF Medical Center and what was expected to be a smaller procedure became much more extensive. Surgeons had to remove two of the three lobes of her right lung instead of just one.
After a few days in the hospital, her and Evan returned home to Arcata only to wind up back in the hospital due to complications. She then spent the next week at Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka, which is 6 hours drive from their home.
In just two weeks, everything changed.
Meagan now faces months of recovery before she can return to work while Evan is caring for both her and Nina and taking on work when he can. To make things even worse, Meagan was working as a nurse and was just one month away from qualifying for paid leave and currently has no income. They are now facing significant financial strain and asking for financial support to help cover medical expenses and daily living costs during this time. Any amount truly helps, and sharing their story means just as much. Food gift certificates via Uber Eats , Postmates or Instacart are also welcome which can be texted directly to them.
Thank you!
