Caerphilly Borough's Rotary Clubs "Stop the Bleed"

I wonder, if you found yourself in a situation where someone was bleeding badly, either from an accident or an attack - would you know how to stop the bleed to help keep that person alive until medical help arrived? Until a few weeks ago, I don't think I would have known what to do for a deep cut, or a wide one, or that it could be dangerous to keep a tourniquet on for too long.

There is a charity called citizenAID which wants to help us to help others, to save lives. They have established training programmes to help individuals be prepared to help in different scenarios, one of their programmes is "Stop the Bleed"

The three Rotary Clubs in Caerphilly Borough, that's Bargoed, Blackwood and Pontllanfraith, have come together in an ambitious project to raise funds to put a "Stop the Bleed" training kit, along with a trainer, in every Comprehensive School in the Borough, initially to train Year 7 pupils. Also to roll them out to 8 youth clubs/associations, as well as purchase 10 Bleed Kits to be placed in existing Defibrillator Cabinets, with an additional 10 Cabinets to be installed.

Over the coming months, they will be fundraising to reach their target of £9000. The first event is happening on 17th September 2024, when a Rotarian from each of the three Rotary Clubs will climb to a high platform, ride the Zip Wire and Abseil to the ground in the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
