Read the story in Aimee's words:
"When I was about 22 weeks pregnant we found out first that we were having a boy and then that he had some heart issues. You never really know the full extent of the Congenital Heart Defect until they are born, but we have been fortunate enough to learn quite a bit about his heart.
Caden has some significant heart defects:
1. He has Hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which happens in about 1/10,000 babies, so it is pretty rare. This means that the left side of the heart did not develop correctly and is smaller than the right side. He will need surgery around 1 week old, 4-6 months and then around 2 years of age.
2. He has a complete Atrio-Ventricular Canal, which means that he has a complete hole in his heart.
3. He has Heterotaxy Syndrome - meaning his heart is on the rigth side of his chest, which is currenlty causing issues finding the stomach and spleen.
With all of this information, we have decided to be at Riley Children's Hospital downtown Indianapolis because we believe they have the best medical professionals and procedures that our boy needs.
All of this has been very difficult to process, but we trust a BIG God and know that he has plan for us and for Caden whatever that may be. So we ask that you stay positive with us (no negative comments or sympathy please), pray with us and just keep loving people!
Thanks for loving our family and also Caden Michael means fighter because we know he will fight through what may be a difficult beginning of life, but does not mean he cannot lead a beautful, happy and healthly life! <3
