Here is the story about my niece:
At the end of March, my 6-year-old niece Cadence suddenly began developing an array of medical symptoms – back pain, fevers, and leg pain that came and went day by day. Abnormal blood counts sent her to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she and her parents were met with the most terrifying reality – Leukemia.
On March 28th, Cadence was diagnosed with AML, a form of Leukemia which is rarely diagnosed in children. She immediately began undergoing in-patient chemotherapy along with additional treatments and procedures aimed at stabilizing her and developing an effective treatment plan. She has undergone 3 rounds of inpatient chemotherapy, and is currently gearing up for another intense round of chemo followed by transplant.
Doug and Ann will be out of work for the foreseeable future to be by her side. In that time, Doug and Ann will undoubtedly be met with an influx of bills – whether from treatment or from cost of living while unable to work – and will need all the help they can get. That being said – I’ve created this page so that Doug and Ann will never need to worry about their finances during this difficult journey.
