Cadence Francis Connolly

August 1st, 2019 we welcomed our son Cadence Francis Connolly at 1:04pm and were quickly informed that Cadence was born with two Cardiac Heart Defects including TGA (Transposition of the Great Arteries) and VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) that were not identified during pregnancy. Cadence received his first procedure that same day to extend his life until he could be transported from Long Beach Memorial to UCLA Mattel Hospital to receive his life saving surgery. On day 7 his transposition surgery was successful but for safety the surgeons held off on fixing his VSD. On day 23 of life Cadence was able to go home with us to continue his recovery at home to get bigger and stronger with Cardiology appointments every 2-3 weeks

Fast forward to now, as a family we are returning to UCLA Mattel Hospital for Cadences second open heart surgery. We are so grateful for the 3 months we have had at home seeing our little man blossom. Cadence has so much personality and loves to laugh, play and smile. This journey has not been easy and we are now returning to living in Los Angeles during Cadences recovery period which means hotel life to nap/shower and finding quick food before returning to his recovery room. Many have continued to ask to help and we felt this could be an outlet to help us make our stay in LA more comfortable. We appreciate all thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery!
