Caden Monteith has HEART!
Donation protected
Caden is a 16-year-old Grade 10 student at Corner Brook Regional High School. Before he was born, he was diagnosed with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot – a congenital heart defect that affects the structure of the heart. He faced his first big battle at just a few months old when he and his parents flew to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital for open heart surgery. The surgery was a success, but they were told that he would need another surgery later in his teen years. Initially his family were told that this surgery would be a less invasive procedure, but they found out in the last few days that unfortunately, this second surgery also needs to be an open heart operation, meaning that his family will once again need to head to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto for an undetermined amount of time.
As we all know, Caden is an enthusiastic, spirited, bright light to everyone he meets. He loves sports – especially volleyball and soccer and gives every game and practice all he’s got. He is a great team-mate and coach and, along with his mom, Todie Winter, he has volunteered many hours helping the many sports organizations he has been a part of.
It’s time for us to pull together, as part of the team, to help make this experience a little less stressful for Caden and his family. They can use all of the love and support they can get. Let’s show them we all have HEART!
