The Sama Biological Reserve in Tarija, Bolivia, is now on fire.
The home to the wildcat, and 110 other native animal species like the condor, the puma or the Andean flamingo, 254 unique plant species, and millions of insects that constitute one of the most important ecosystems and water sources in South America.
Today, as the fire reaches urban areas, threatening the lives and homes of my entire city, volunteer firefighters and farmers without equipment are risking their lives fighting the fire with branches and shovels.
But not all is lost.
While we seek to control the fire, we're woking in conjunction with the Rincón de la Victoria Foundation, and we need your help to raise funds to reforest and recover the home of hundreds of thousands of plants and wild animals.
WHAT WE NEED:
- 20,000 native trees that cost $1 each.
- $20,000 to plant and care for these trees.
- $10,000 to care for and rehabilitate rescued animals.
ABOUT THE RINCON DE LA VICTORIA FOUNDATION: We're a non-profit foundation founded in 2017, we're dedicated to the reforestation, and water preservation in the Sama Reserve, producing native tree seedlings in our nursery located in the heart of the reserve.
ABOUT ME: I am Geronimo Sims, a Miami-based 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Tarija, vegetarian and nature lover.
I grew up in the Sama Reserve, where I learned to love all living beings as much as I love myself, and I will be infinitely grateful for your support in recovering my home and favorite place in the world.
SAMA NEEDS ALL OF US, LET'S NOT LET HER DIE.
SAMA NECESITA DE TODOS, NO LA DEJEMOS MORIR.
