Cactus Hill Farm Tiendita 2.0!!

In January, we were so honored to begin hosting people on the farm with our little farm store, Cactus Hill Farm Tiendita. We hosted classes as well as wonderful local food and fiber products.
Unfortunately, in June, a neighbor began harassing and threatening me, my family, and my little business. I was forced to close the Tiendita and move my family to a safer location. Me and my kiddos are well and we are safe, but we have lost our home for the time being, I only hope temporarily. I am slowly moving through the criminal case; there is no guarantee on the outcome, it could take months, or even longer.
I am a person who tries to see opportunity even in the light of misfortune. The truth is, my Tiendita was super cute, but it was remote, and also a tiny building. I have begun to look at this horrible situation as an opportunity for growth. Our little towns need more community space. What better way to come together than through farming, food, and fiber?
This fundraiser is to help me move my Tiendita to its new location. This move will give the farm store more room to grow and a larger area to host events. At its heart, the Tiendita will always be a farm store, but a larger location will allow us to offer so much more. Some of our planned additions include:
- Fiber art, yarn, and other fiber from local and regional producers and artists. Not just from the farm; we plan to add other artists.
- Local foods from our community: meat, eggs, produce.
- Locally made soaps, candles, and more.
- Classes, events, and workshops.
- Some nice additions such as coffee, other foods, and ready-to-eat baked goods.
This fundraiser will fund the move as well as the expansion of inventory and different products we offer. The more we make in this fundraiser, the more we can offer in our new space. The funds will be used to:
- pay staff to run the Tiendita
- Offer classes and workshops
- expand inventory and support other local vendors.
As a thank you for your contribution, we will create a tribute in the store to all who donate.
Our community needs safe spaces for children and people of all walks or life. We cannot wait to again offer a place for people to come together. Thank you all for continuing to support our family farm! Me, my girls, and the sheepies could not do it without you.
