Later this summer the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County will open to serve the community in its new location at the former Lincoln Elementary School building.
This beautiful new facility will house the CAC, the Exploited & Missing Child Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, staff from the District Attorney's Office, medical providers from Wesley, Via Christi and KU School of Medicine as well as ICT S.O.S. in a kid-friendly location.
This will essentially create a one-stop-shop for all minor victims of crime to receive the services they need in one location, streamlining travel and reducing trauma for families.
In addition to the necessary medical exam rooms, interview rooms and therapy rooms, this new location will also have bright and cheery waiting areas, including a secure outdoor play area.
As you can see from the photo above, right now that play area doesn't look like much. But we have BIG plans!
Playground equipment from the old elementary school will be re-used and soft play surfaces will make the area safe and comfortable. But we also want to make it fun and exciting!
ICT S.O.S. is seeking to raise funds to take this play area to the next level as our gift and contribution to the new Child Advocacy Center. These funds will be used to add benches, planters, landscaping, outdoor toys and possibly a wall mural to the space.
In addition to the funds, we plan to host a community volunteer workday to get the space kid-ready!
Please consider a contribution to this project that will benefit so many children in our community through this new resource. The Child Advocacy Center and the participating partner organizations will provide excellent care for these kiddos and their families. Let's help provide an oasis of fun and play while they begin to heal!
