We all have to remember if were committed to being in this world, to marketing art about that experience, and to helping foster conditions were others can do the same. Then our stories must be told. Marketing is key to that process. What is it, and how does it work? Marketing is storytelling presented to a specific audience to drive to specific outcomes. For that reason, it is often used by mainstream forces with commercial, cultural, or political agendas on how we live our lives. But if marketing can reinforce traditional narrative, it can also subvent marketing can serve that same purpose, and we make it so.

Greetings Everyone,

My name is Ron Simmons a former resident of Cabrini Green from Chicago, IL.
I'm a writer/producer and filmmaker who has been writing, researching and developing a script to make into a feature film. I have been working on this well over 15 years now and funding this project with my own personal money, time and creative skills to get this done. I know with your help, we can make this happen a lot faster. Real stories by real people!

This film will give you a true story of stories and enlighten everyone on how families grew up in public housing with myths and the lies that over shadow communities. These communities were enslaved by the systems of political gains and the power of the systems. These are true stories of power and how people were kept out of the American dream, locking many into a system of no hope. Most of everything that happen to Cabrini Green and it's residents was done systematically by the systems in place.

Only those who didn't believe the propaganda made it out and worked toward a better life for themselves and their families. These people would later become teachers, principals, social workers, police officers, lawyers, famous entertainers, and famous actors, start their own businesses, hold political office, etc. So many great families came out of "Cabrini Green" as well as many other housing projects around the world that we never hear anything about.

75% white and 25% black from 1942 to 1967 as more blacks moved in, more whites would move out. By the late 1960’s to early 1970’s Cabrini was almost 100% black. At one time they called Cabrini “Little Sicily” and had Italian feasts every year running down Division, Larrabee and Oak Street. Everyone got along and helped each other at different times. To this day, I still have white friends from back then to this day.

It was a nice place to raise kids. Kids always had something to do that involved sports, music, after school programs, tutoring programs, centers, quarter parties, waistline parties, club sets, baseball & basketball tournaments, trips, block clubs/parties, summer jobs, year around jobs, and educational programs. Most of the families there were ran by a single parent, but some did have 2 parents in the household it was a village. Most parents set a strong foundation and told their children that education was the key to a better life something that could never be taken from you.

I have traveled the world and a lot of places I’ve visited, people knew of "Cabrini Green" housing projects here in Chicago. However, they never had good things to say about a place I knew wasn't a hell hole place to reside in. I knew this, because I lived there with many others. Don't get me wrong, bad things did happen there but bad things happen everywhere and worse than "Cabrini Green". "Cabrini Green" was in the media's eye all the time, because of the powers that be which included the Mayor, special interest and the government. They wanted dominion over these 70 acres of prime real estate and came up with a plan to take the area down and make it unlivable. So it began... This will not be your typical ghetto/hood feature film.

The goal of "Cabrini Green" is to tell true stories that appeal to a vast audience. The advantage of the production is that it is a “human interest story,” set in a real economic climate and tells stories of a time frame from 1957 to 1985. As an independent movie, "Cabrini Green" also provides direct communication with the audience about people’s struggles, faith-¬‐based living, the real down fall of "Cabrini Green" housing projects, and the urban struggles of blacks, a rich community that many loved. Although it is an independent production, the producers expect to recruit actors, talent and notable names in theatre and film (for key roles). The soundtrack will be composed of famous Chicago recording artists and will play a very important part of bringing this feature film to life.
