Caban home flooded by Harvey
Donation protected
My name is Madeline Caban and I live in Baytown, Texas with my daughter Celeste and my parents Pastors Carlos & Maria Caban our dwelling on Cedar Bend was flooded by Harvey.
here is our story. Videos of damage can be seen on my FB account
As Harvey brought an unprecedented 51.88 inches of rain on Cedar Bayou. We slowly watched as Cedar bayou came past our acre and into the front steps of the house, which we had just moved into early in August. At around 3 am We evacuated our home carrying my sleeping child and duffel bags wading through water to the cars. Some kind friends a couple miles down the road took us in. The next day we woke up to water yet again. Except this time our cars were already in the water. That morning was most traumatic as there was nothing I could do to help my parents or child. I cried out to God from Job 3:25 For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me...
But God reminded me He would never fail me .
Fire department rescued us from waist deep water. Took us to a shelter, where my brothers came and got us. Thankfully their homes were untouched by the storm .
We loss a lot of things but we are beyond blessed. Some people are not able to tell their stories.
My brother was housing about 15 people in his home when he and his wife decided to also open up their church to help the people who didn't have a place to go to. Past few days we've been volunteering at the church which has now gone from shelter to pantry.
It was them Acts 3:6 became real. Silver and Gold I do not have but what o have I give you. What I do have and am happy to share with anyone that will listen is my hope in Christ! Tell you what that hope is more than enough. God is faithful and true. He will redeem those who serve Him. No one who takes refuge in Him will be condemned.
Many friends and family have asked that we share our story and for ways to give. Please understand It is hard for us to ask for ourselves when we aren't the only ones. There are many people in need right now. For this same reason we do not take lightly that you choose to give to our family. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and ask that you continue to carry us in prayer as we continue to serve others and as we rebuild our home. Money received will be used replace everything from clothing to furniture and to help cover expenses of a temporary housing.
