Help Julie Lafromboise in Her Fight Against Cancer
Two weeks ago, I went to the doctor for a massively distended abdomen, not knowing the journey that lay ahead. A CT scan and bloodwork quickly followed, leading to an ER visit where a paracentesis procedure drained over a liter of fluid from my abdomen. The cause? My liver isn’t functioning properly, allowing unfiltered fluid to seep into my abdominal cavity. While the procedure brought temporary relief, it was just the beginning.
On February 13th, I received devastating news—I have cancer in my liver and colon/rectal area. A biopsy was scheduled, followed by more scans to determine the full extent. The past two weeks have been a whirlwind of tests, waiting, and hoping for the best.
Unfortunately, my results were not what we had prayed for. I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon/rectal cancer that has metastasized to my liver and there are questionable spots affecting lymph nodes and my lungs. My liver is severely enlarged, causing intense pain and discomfort. While there is no cure, treatment can help manage my symptoms and improve my quality of life.
My Fight Begins Now
Tomorrow, I will have a port installed in my chest, and chemotherapy starts on Monday. This will be my best chance to shrink the tumors and reduce my liver’s size, hopefully easing my chronic pain. I don’t yet know how long or how often treatment will be, but I do know this—I am ready to fight.
How You Can Help
As I focus on my health, I am unable to work, and our household is losing a significant portion of our income. We are doing everything we can to keep life as stable as possible for our family, especially for our kids. This GoFundMe is being set up to help with medical expenses, insurance, groceries, and everyday essentials.
We don’t expect anything, but any donation—no matter the size—will make a difference. Even just sharing this page with others would mean the world to us.
I am beyond grateful for the love and support surrounding me. Some days will be tough, and if I don’t respond right away, please know that I appreciate every message, prayer, and thought. This journey won’t be easy, but I am not facing it alone.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With love,
Julie
