FREEDOM OF THE PRESS MEMORIAL
This project is being done in partnership with the Caucus of African-American Leaders (CAAL), the Capital Gazette newspapers and the Baltimore Sun. Essentially the role of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee will be to serve as the nonprofit that donors can donate to for the creation of the "Freedom of the Press Memorial", which is being created to honor the journalists that were slain on June 28, 2018, at the Capital newspaper headquarters in Annapolis, Maryland.
The memorial is estimated to cost $70,000.00 and will be built by using private funds. Unlike the Civil Rights Foot Soldiers Memorial, a bank loan will not be used to secure funding and then pay back the bank. It will be strictly based on raising of the funds by private donors
