Support Katie’s Fight against Cancer

Hello, my name is Katie and I am a US Army Military Police veteran and also wife to a hardworking lifelong lobsterman and 4 beautiful children.

On September 1, 2023, our lives changed in ways we never saw coming. I began to have symptoms that were unexplained until I suffered a stroke in December 2023 and had emergency surgery to repair a spinal collapse in my neck. At this point in time, my husband started to become my full-time caregiver, knowing it would have a negative impact on his business, but to no avail, he has relentlessly provided not just care for my health but also worked full-time to cut wood to provide us heat.

As time continued, my symptoms started to get worse. After so many tests, trips to specialists, appointments, genetic testing, and more, we then found out I had cancer at the end of 2024. For two years now, we have stood strong, but the time has come that I ask for help. With my husband’s business on hold, we are finding that our finances get tighter and tighter, and any help is appreciated beyond words. We were trying to secure housing by saving for a down payment on a mortgage, but now with all of my appointments, we have had to use every penny to survive. Three of our children stay with their father in PA during the school year, and unfortunately, we have been unable to see each other for two years due to not just my declining health but also because financially we had no reserve. Any funds we receive will not only help our financial burden but also be used to help assist in seeing our kiddos.
