Elphie is not only a Registered Therapy Dog through TDI, she’s my personal therapy dog. She makes me laugh every single day, helps me with foster pets, & got me through my mom’s passing last year.Last night was like any other night. However, this morning (10/9), Elphie was “not right.” Slightly labored breathing after only walking a few steps, she stood & wagged her tail. She felt cold, she was pale. After taking her to my work at the vet for X-rays & bloodwork, we spent the day at Metropolitan Vet in Akron. Pericardial effusion. Fluid was tapped from around her heart & her abdomen. A mass was found in her right atrium, Hemangiosarcoma. Vet is having a difficult time controlling her ventricular tachycardia now & after one last visitation, I had to drive the 1 &1/2 hours home without my girl.
This day has hit extremely hard both emotionally & financially. Her prognosis doesn’t sound good, however talk of bringing her home tomorrow gives me some hope. No one prepares for something so sudden & I would never ask for donations for my own pet, but it’s been suggested to me to do so. Thankfully, I have an amazing dad & workplace that have helped beyond words can express. Thank you to any and all of you who can donate to help me & my girl.
