On January 20th, Amanda presented to the hospital, initially believing she was battling a simple case of gastroenteritis. But within hours, her condition took a terrifying turn. She was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, a life-threatening infection that was rapidly eating away at the tissue in her leg.
Surgeons acted quickly, performing emergency surgery to remove a significant portion of the affected tissue, and she was placed in the ICU for intensive care. Thanks to the dedicated medical team, multiple rounds of antibiotics, and 24/7 care, the infection was finally under control.
But the road to recovery is just beginning, and it will be a long, challenging journey.
Amanda is one of the kindest and most selfless people we know. She’s always the first to lend a hand, offer support, and put the needs of others before her own. Like so many strong and resilient people, she’s never one to ask for help. But now, more than ever, she needs us.
While she continues to heal, Amanda is unable to work, and her family—the backbone of her life—has been holding it together in her absence.
We’ve decided to start a fundraiser to help alleviate some of the financial strain caused by this unexpected medical crisis. This will help cover medical expenses, lost wages, and the ongoing costs of her recovery. Because as we all know, even in the face of a serious health challenge, the everyday bills don’t stop.
Amanda’s recovery will be a multi-step process. Once she returns from Brisbane, she will need medical aides to assist with her mobility, along with regular wound dressing changes to ensure the best possible chance for a successful skin graft.
In 4-6 weeks, she will need to return to Brisbane to begin the skin graft procedure, followed by physiotherapy to regain strength and mobility.
We are asking for your support to ease the financial burden on Amanda and her family during this difficult time. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in helping her through this. Let’s come together to support a woman who has given so much to others, and now needs our love and generosity more than ever.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
