My name is Wendy and Lisa is my best friend. She has been my best friend since we were in 5th grade. We are now 54 years old. And now, Lisa desperately needs a liver transplant. She has been through so much the last 10 years with her liver disease, Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC); she has also been diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis. She has had many, many doctor's visits and hospitalizations, and she also had surgery 3 years ago to remove a brain tumor!

She has been fighting hepatic encephalopathy on and off over the last year, which has required many doctor's visits and many days in the hospital.

Lisa is a mother to her daughter, Marlene, and she also just celebrated a 1-year wedding anniversary with her husband, Bobby. They live a happy life in Truro, Massachusetts. They have been able to live comfortably and pay Lisa's medical bills, but this disease is coming at them in full force now. The hepatic encephalopathy is proving to be a beast to her body, and the doctors at Beth Israel Boston have told her a liver transplant is looking to be the only way to save her life. She has insurance, but household bills are sure to pile up. Bobby won't be able to be at work as much because he will be by her side every step of the way! Trips to Boston from Truro are over 2 hours; gas, parking, and food for Bobby will add up. I would like to help them continue to be able to pay their home bills and not worry during the awful times that are unavoidably coming their way.
