For the past 2 and a half years I have been working as a server at Casey’s Pour House in Berwyn. At Casey’s, I met one of the cooks, Pat Webb. From the day I met Pat, I immediately recognized his warm aura and welcoming personality. He has commendable work ethic and a positive attitude that resonates throughout the kitchen.

I was beyond saddened to hear the distressing news that Pat’s son, Kyle, who has neurofibromatosis 1, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at only 27 years old. His specific type of cancer is known as sarcoma. Sarcoma is a broad term for a rare type of cancer that arises in connective tissue and in the bones. These types of tumors tend to grow and spread quickly throughout the body. After a biopsy, it was found that the sarcoma had spread to Kyle’s lungs. He is now scheduled to undergo an abdominoperineal resection surgery as his best form of treatment. He is currently receiving chemotherapy to reduce the tumor in preparation of his surgery. If all goes well, Kyle is expected to begin radiation therapy in hopes to kill any remaining cancer cells.

Kyle has been an employee at the McDonalds in Boothwyn since he was 15. He is a member of St Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Aston, Pa where he used to be a member of the council. Kyle also attends the Philadelphia Folk Festival as a volunteer of the Food Tent annually.

Bad things always seem to happen to good people. While I still can’t seem to figure that out, I wanted to find a way to help the Webb family through this undeserving and inexplicable time. I hope to raise enough money to cover all of Kyle’s medical bills. I know circumstances are tough for everyone these days but please share this fundraiser along even if you are unable to donate.
