Michelle is a valuable member of the Redbarn and Pawstruck customer service team. Early last year, her husband Matt was diagnosed with a rare disorder called MOG Antibody disease. It’s an immune-mediated disorder of the nervous system that causes inflammation and damage to the optic nerve, spinal cord, and brain. Since his diagnosis, he has gone through periods of blindness and inability to walk and is in near-constant pain. There are not many treatments for this condition. He is currently in a treatment study through Stanford Medical clinic, and they are trying to wade through the difficult insurance process to get additional care. In the last 2 weeks, his condition has taken a turn for the worse.

As a result of this condition, Matt is unable to work. He stays home to care for their children while Michelle works. In addition to working as a CS Representative for our brands, she also works as a barista at Starbucks. Every day she does not travel to take Matt to his doctor’s appointments, she works at Starbucks starting at 5 a.m., then comes home to work for Redbarn until 6 p.m. And the bills continue to pile up.
