On 8 February, Heidi went into labor over a month before her due date. She was rushed to the hospital and had to have an emergency C Section. She suffered from a placenta abruption and Baby Abel was deprived of oxygen. Abel struggled with breathing when he was born, and was transported to Grady in Atlanta before Heidi was even able to hold him. Since his transport, Abel has been making great progress and has been taken off of his ventilator and oxygen, and is breathing all by himself!
Heidi had to have a blood transfusion, but was safely discharged on 10 February. Abel is still in the NICU at Grady. It will be at least three more weeks before he is allowed to come home.
During this time, Stephen has remained with Abel at Grady 24/7. As a result, Stephen will be unable to run his small business (their only source of income) until Abel is home. Stephen and Heidi are under the strain of their regular monthly bills, as well as the gas and maintenance for their cars, and parking at the hospital so they can spend time with their son.
Heidis C Section incision renders her incapable of driving herself to and from the hospital, so if anyone would be willing to pick her up and drop her off at Grady, or have questions about other ways to help, please text me at [phone redacted] or Marcia Woods at [phone redacted].
If you are able to help them and feel led to do so, please do. They also have a Meal Train going. I have posted the link below. Thank you in advance!
