Dear Family and Friends,

We would like to take a moment to let family and friends know about the medical challenges that Michael is going through. To be truthful, we never expected to have to post this. We have been lovingly immersed with such encouraging messages and phone calls. Please understand that we are not able to respond to each one individually, but they are read and cherished.

Michael was healthy, his voice was going in and out three months ago. He thought it was just bad sinuses and brushed it off. He went for a physical and checkup 2-months ago, but they didn’t find anything wrong with him. He wasn't aware of any major concerns, until he finally decided to go to the hospital on August 25th when he had a hard time catching his breath. He went to emergency and the doctors notified him that his airway was obstructed by 80% due to a mass in his throat. He was rushed to perform an emergency tracheostomy surgery. After the surgery, they did a biopsy on the mass in his throat and discovered that it was cancerous. He currently has a trachea tube in his throat to assist with breathing and a PEG feeding tube in his stomach.

He has insurance, but it doesn't cover a lot and due to his condition he will not be able to return to work anytime soon. Therefore with loss of wages, it will put a financial hardship on the family with more stress on Michael, that he will not be able to provide for his loved ones. Once he gets discharged from the hospital, he will receive outpatient care. He will have a total laryngectomy surgery within 4-weeks, then it will take 6-weeks for him to recover from the surgery. He will then start radiation and chemotherapy for 2-months. He plans to be out of work for 6-months.

Many have asked how they can contribute to Michael, to ease some of the burden of medical expenses and other financial obligations due to lack of work at this time. Therefore the family has set up a GoFundMe to allow people to donate if they choose.

We ask that you continue to pray for Michael and the family, as we are all still believing for a miracle.
