Loki vet bill

Hi, my name is Millicent and Loki is my 2 year old Indian Ringneck Parakeet. He is the light of my life, beginning and end to my day and the most amazing little being I have ever met. I am devoted to him, and I like to think that he is devoted to me. He gives me purpose and happiness that is unmeasurable.

On an average day, Loki is loud, slightly annoying, loving, energetic and full of life. His talking abilities have attracted a following of over 22k users on tiktok (@millieandloki)! Yet in the last 2 months the Loki I’ve raised and that we have all come to know has faded due to illness. Sleeping all day, no talking and no energy - it’s been confronting and painful to watch.

Loki’s initial diagnosis was a crop infection, treated with 2 rounds of antibiotics and a round of anti inflammatory, with no sense of recovery visible. Finally after many vet visits we have located the major issues, with an x-ray showing a piece of metal that he has ingested, lodged in one of his digestive tracts. Upon this he is suffering from an oral yeast infection, making it painful for him to eat and talk. Loki will be in vet care for the next week as without treatment and constant care he will remain in a critical condition.

As birds are gentle and delicate little beings, and remain a more niche pet, the accumulated cost of diagnostics, care and treatment are at an amount that I - a 21 year old University student - can not even begin to afford. His ongoing illness has also prevented me from working, as I am spending all my free time caring for him, worrying and currently visiting him at the vet any moment that I can.

My number one motivation at this time is to ensure Loki is thriving in health and happiness again, which would benefit from any help possible. I have never used this website before and am aware that there are bigger things going on in the world at this time, where money is more highly needed.
