Antonio Jimenez is a 13-year-old Hollidaysburg Area Jr. High student and athlete.

On Friday, 8/1, Antonio suffered a medical emergency where he lost all function in both of his legs. He was life-flighted to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh where they inserted a lumbar drain. Doctors have not yet determined the cause but are leaning toward one of two possible diagnoses: a spinal cord stroke or transverse myelitis.

At this time, Antonio still does not have function in either leg, and he is being monitored and checked periodically for sensation to return. What the future looks like for Antonio is still unknown at this point. Antonio is expected to remain at Children’s Hospital for at least a month while they determine the cause and work toward recovery.

In the meantime, his parents, Antonella and Jason, will juggle caring for their other two sons at home (JJ and Julio), managing two of our favorite local restaurants, and staying strong and steady by Antonio’s side in Pittsburgh.

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise money to cover missed wages, accommodations, food/necessities, and travel costs to and from Pittsburgh so that they have one less thing to stress about while they navigate this terrifying and potentially life altering situation.
