This is a time to step up and help one of our own, Vernon Police Officer Paul Cerda and his family, in a very difficult time of grievance. Paul Cerda's dughter, Alexis Navarro was having complications with her pregnancy. The doctors had to perform an emergency c-section to help save both Alexis and her unborn son, Isaac. On August 15th, 2015, Alexis gave birth to Isaac David Navarro (premature 28 weeks). Isaac was born healthy, but had a blood valve near his heart that did not seal. Baby Isaac spent to weeks in the NICU, and on August 30th, 2015, doctors performed a surgery to close the the valve near Isaac's heart. Unfortunately, baby Isaac did not survive the procedure and passed. Now imagine the pain of losing your son, your new born son, and then having to deal with the financial burden of funeral cost. Alexis and her husband have been dealing with hefty medical expenses and financial hardship. The Vernon Police Officer's Association has donated the first $1000.00 to help Paul, Alexis and her husband, Carlos Navarro through this difficult time of pain that no one would ever want to experience. We are reaching out to our Community and especially our Law Enforcement Community in an effort to help Alexis and Carlos through this difficult time. This is a time for them to grieve and not worry about the financial hardship incurred with buring your infant son. Please join me in assisting Paul Cerda and his family through this difficult time. Thank you, VPOA Vice President Gus Herrera
