Gizmo’s spinal surgery
I never thought in my worst nightmares I would have to ask for help to save my fur baby.
Yesterday the 10th of December broke my heart. I witnessed my poor sweet boy unable to use his back legs. Gizmo is my first fur baby, and the first dog I have owned on my own.
I am hoping to raise money towards my best friend Gizmo’s spinal surgery. I never thought I would have to ‘beg’ for money but he is my boy and I will do anything for him.
Gizmo is the most amazing french bulldog. Such a special kind boy he knows when your sad and need love and he knows just how to cheer you up after a long day at work.
He has just celebrated his 8th birthday so still in his prime. 
He was having what I thought was a lazy day as he just wanted to cuddle and sleep (I’ll be honest this didn’t make me worry as he is a VERYlazy boy) but then when it came to nighttime he just couldn’t get comfortable. He kept moving and grunting and looking at me with his big beautiful eyes.
And like every dog mum I just thought I was been over sensitive. So I thought I’ll see how he isin the morning and if he’s no better a trip to the vet.
Well I woke up and that was it my poor little boy couldn’t stand up.
I called the vet they got me straight in for an x-ray. When I got to the vets I realised how much pain Gizmo must of been in as normally he is the loudest thing at the vets and no one can hear themselves think let alone talk. But he was extremely quiet.
I waited what felt a life time for those results. The vets where amazing spoke me through everything they were doing.
Then the phone rang it was the vet, they had found something it was his spine and he needed an MRI and surgery and would have to go to a specialist.
So I booked him straight in at that specialist and as soon as he was ok to travel after the anaesthetic from the x-ray I got him there.
We got to the specialist at 4pm roughly and they were amazing even brought a form out for us to fill in his favourite foods and snacks.
They took him straight in to do the MRI and called me saying they had found a large slipped disc and would need to operate. I didn’t hesitate it’s my special boy who I would move heaven and earth for! So they started to operate at about half 5.
They mentioned putting him to sleep but while there is a good chance he will recover I owe it to my boy to fight.
So this is where I need some help I never ask for anything and hate asking for help but for Gizmo I will do anything! I have paid for his x-ray £400 but the MRI and surgery will roughly be £7000 I have had to pay 50% of this when they admitted him luckily I had savings and a good family who have helped. But I need to pay the other £3500 when I collect him in 2 weeks.
I would really appreciate some help getting there I am obviously going to be selling things but 2 weeks even though it feels a life time without my best friend it’s not long to raise those sorts of funds.
I know everyone will be asking why he isn’t insured? And the reason for that is I have had other trips to the vets where the insurance hasn’t paid out so I just started to put money to one side. Never did I think I would be faced with a £7500 vet bill
