Hi, my name is Shae. I’m a 41 yr old single mother of 2 beautiful boys.
When I was 17 I was diagnosed with type one diabetes. Life back then wasn’t as easy as it is now with taking care of this disease. I spent nearly 6 months undiagnosed - I was 49kgs, loosing my hair and teeth with no idea why.
the back of my mouth was broken and jaggered from pieces of my teeth falling off.
Fast forward to 2026 and after 6 years of not being sure, being too scared. I made the decision to go through the public system to have full removal of all teeth and then receive dentures.
I work full time, day night, in between life with my boys as a beauty artist who rents her own home, pays school fees and trying to just provide a decent life.
Dentures are expensive if not through the public system, I’ve spoken with a dentist after doing research about 3D printed dentures and how much more affordable and accessible they are.
I know teeth are considered a cosmetic privilege but to me they are so much more. I’ll be continuing to work as much as possible over the next six weeks to try save this amount on my own, however, if anyone is in a position to help and does it will be noticed. I’ve spent the last 12 months quitting smoking, barely drinking, exercising daily and pushing for a healthier happier life. If there’s anything I can teach my children this is it.
Any help would be so insanely helpful and appreciated.
