2024 Brazil Mission Trip

Hi! We are Arthur and Candy Ornelas. We have been residents of Glastonbury, CT., for almost six years after relocating from our lifelong home of San Angelo, TX. Our current employment at Chick-fil-A Glastonbury may have been the reason for our relocation, but God knew that Glastonbury was where he wanted to plant us for this season of our lives. We found our home at The River Church and have opened ourselves to how God could and would use us to further His Kingdom if we trusted and allowed Him autonomy.

Early this year, God placed on our hearts to serve in some capacity in missions. We were unsure what that meant until Pastor George asked if we would prayerfully consider attending this year's missions trip. We are excited to say that after much prayer and consideration, we will join The River Church team, which is in partnership with Chapel Pointe Church in Hudsonville, MI. This will be The River Church's second mission trip.

A team of 6 from TRC will serve alongside Chapel Pointe's mission team in Sao Paolo, Brazil, from May 3 to May 12. We are so excited to have this experience of being Kingdom-minded, serving in another culture, and helping BRING JOY to Brazil! While we are in Brazil, we will have the opportunity to serve a church plant with a brand new Brazilian pastor, share the gospel with young adults and kids, and also help at an orphanage. We are also eager to learn what Brazilians can teach us regarding being a more faithful Christian.

That said, we know we can not do this without God's guidance and provision. Would you be willing to pray for us and also pray about helping support us on this mission trip? The cost of the trip is $2000 per person. We believe if God has called us to this, He will also make way for it.
