Help rebuild Ibrahim and Karim's family's home
Donation protected
Since October, through all of Montana’s organizing in solidarity with Palestine, Ibrahim wrote to me every week, often every day. On the cats he adopted, on his read of the situation there, on the foods he cherished finding in times of state enacted scarcity, on the absurdity of the horrors. I am deeply grateful that he is an articulate voice and heart from the ground. Ibrahim and I recognize that there is so much need - and I feel that what grounds me in the overwhelming darkness of it all, is Ibrahim. Supporting real people is the only way we can maintain hope in this darkness. Please contribute what you can.
Ibrahim and Karim are a part of a seven-member family living in Gaza. They have been facing unimaginable challenges due to the genocide in Gaza, they now hope that they can rebuild the lives they once had in Gaza, their beautiful home, so that they can finally be able to pursue their dreams. The following is a message from their parents:
For 25 years, my wife and I worked tirelessly, sacrificing a significant portion of our monthly income to save for a piece of land where we could build a home for ourselves and our five kids, who are now entering adulthood. Our dream was to secure a comfortable future for them and their future families.
About 10 years ago, we finally managed to purchase the land we needed. From that moment, we continued to save, often at the expense of our own needs and priorities, to build our dream home. Every detail of the house was carefully planned and discussed with our children, ensuring their rooms and spaces would meet their needs and provide them with a comfortable life after years of hardship.
After years of planning and effort, we were blessed to complete the construction of our two-story home with a small garden. We were preparing to move in and start a new chapter in our lives. But then, war broke out, and our beautiful dream began to crumble. The devastating news came that our home had been completely destroyed.
The shock was unbearable, but the harsh reality of war and displacement was even more bitter. We were forced to live in tents, struggling to find enough food, water, and warmth during the freezing winters. The scorching summer heat was equally unbearable. For fifteen long months, we endured pain, loss, and suffering, and the struggle continues to this day. Our only shelter now is a tent set up on the rubble of our destroyed home.
As a family, we urgently need your support and generosity to help us rebuild our home, furnish it, and gradually return to a normal life. Your donations and efforts to share our story will make a world of difference in helping us recover from this tragedy.
Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time.
