Hello! My partner Jacob Terando and I (Storm Faulconer), are asking you to team up with us, in bringing to fruition the coffee shop of our dreams, Forage Coffee Company. My mom called me around springtime to inform me that her and my dad put in an offer to purchase this old gas station that's just outside of downtown Medford, on the corner of Hawthorne and Main. I was shocked! She then went into more detail about her dream of opening a plant shop, which then led to her expressing to me how perfect she thought it would be if we joined forces and opened Medford's first coffee and plant shop, ran out of an old Texaco from the 50's. My dream is to open a coffee shop, but when I received this call it seemed way to soon and I didn't think I was ready or prepared at all. So, needless to say I was very hesitant and nearly convinced that it wasn't the right time. However, after thinking about it I knew I would be crazy not to take this incredible opportunity. I mean, who's parents buy a gas station and tell you you should open your dream coffee shop in it? As I write this I am blown away and forever grateful for that.
Now, about Jake and I, I would say he's like an acquaintance. Okay, I guess he's sort of my friend now. Ugh, fine he's my best friend and he married my sister whatever. Anyways... We worked in coffee together about 3-4 years ago and we would talk and dream together about owning our own someday. So, why a coffee shop? Well, first of all because coffee is delicious... and essential... and juicy and amazing, when sourced, roasted, and brewed well, and something we are more than willing to revolve our lives around in the pursuit and effort of making it taste perfect. But it's not just the coffee, its the food program I want to develop there as well. The chase of creating incredible baked goods made from scratch with a ton of love, will also be taking place on the premises daily. We'll also be selling plants! Im very excited about this. My mom is like a plant guru so you can count on a very aesthetic jungle vibe when you come in.
My dad and I started this build-out in June and really want to finish around January. There's still a lot to do and we are running out of the sufficient funds required to bring this project to completion. With that said, we are asking for 10,000 to order the rest of the equipment we need to open, mainly the espresso machine and the coffee grinders. We want nothing less than top notch comfortability, design, and products for everyone who enters, and we're going to make sure that happens.
So, that's the beginning of our story for now. We have a special place in our heart for Medford, Oregon. We think that where it's at right now is premature, but hope that the presence of Forage Coffee will bring smiles to peoples faces, culture inside the walls, and sparks of inspiration for everyone who walks out the door. Watch our video created by Arturo Mendez, to get a visual of this endeavor, and we hope you partner with us.
Thanks!
