Dear Friends and Family
GoFundMe Update: Recovery Update – Your Support Means the World
Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I wanted to share a critical update with you regarding my health and recovery journey. After my transplant, I faced an unexpected and severe setback on May 22nd. I contracted Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that attacks the nerves. This condition left me temporarily paralyzed, unable to move both my upper body and my lower legs and feet. I was immediately hospitalized and then transferred to a rehab center on June 26th.
Unfortunately, after 90 days in rehab, my insurance coverage expired, and I was forced to continue my recovery at home. Though I am making progress, I still require ongoing home therapy,
I unbelievably on August 17th while in the rehab facility my house burned down and my family lost everything clothes jewelry personal items furniture and electronics although everyone got out and was safe
This road to recovery has been challenging, both physically and financially, but I am determined to keep moving forward. I humbly ask for your continued support during this time. Every donation helps me access the therapy I need to regain my strength and independence.
Please find it in your heart to continue donating and sharing my story. Your generosity has meant the world to me, and I am truly grateful for all the love and support I've received so far.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With love and gratitude,
Alfredo
I hope this message finds you well.
I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for help as I embark on a journey to save a life, mine. I am in desperate need of a kidney transplant, and I am turning to the power of community and compassion to make this life-saving procedure a reality.
I have been battling End Stage Kidney/Renal Disease - Stage 5 (Final Stage) and on dialysis 3 times a week for 4-6 hours each session, for over a year and a half now. The doctors have informed me that a kidney transplant is the only chance at life and for a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Unfortunately, the time, and financial burden associated with such a procedure has become staggering and overwhelming, and that's where I humbly seek your support.
The estimated cost of the kidney transplant surgery itself, pre & post-operative care, and necessary medications, is well over $400,000. The recovery time, time off of work, and this large amount is beyond my financial means, so I am turning to friends, family, and the community to help raise the necessary funds as well as finding a donor match.
Here's how you can make a difference:
1. Donate to My GoFundMe: Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant impact. Please visit my GoFundMe page to make a secure donation and share the page with your network, friends, and family.
2. Spread the Word: Please take the time to share my story on social media, email, and other platforms. The more people who hear about my cause, the closer I get to reaching my goal and saving my life.
3. Organize Fundraising Events: Consider hosting local fundraising events or activities in your community to help raise awareness and funds for my transplant.
4. Sign Up to See If You are a Donor Match: Also, if you would like to see if you are a match and would like to be considered as a potential donor, please see the link below to sign up.
The St. Josephs-Dignity Health Transplant Team is ready to review potential kidney donors for me, so if you or someone you know is interested, please click on the following link to fill out a quick form, then click submit, and someone from their office will reach out to you to start the process and answer any questions.
Thank you for reading, listening, donating, and helping to save my life for myself and my children.
God Bless,
Alfredo Oliva
