Help Rebuild a Home for the Chimney Swifts. For generations, thousands of chimney swifts have migrated to my neighborhood in Tulsa, OK each summer and fall, swirling in breathtaking flocks before settling into the chimney of the old school across from my house. It was a stunning, magical sight—one of those rare moments where nature reminds us of its beauty and resilience. But two years ago, everything changed. The school’s chimney had become unstable and was removed for safety reasons. It’s now capped, and the swifts have lost their nesting site—leaving them without a place to rest, raise their young, and return to year after year. Chimney swifts are a declining species, and their survival depends on having access to safe, tall structures where they can roost. I’m trying to raise $1,700 to build a much smaller, custom-designed chimney tower on the same property—giving these incredible birds a new home and preserving an important piece of our local ecosystem. The school administrator has kindly agreed to allow this new chimney to be built on the grounds, but they don’t have funding available. So I’m reaching out for help. If you care about birds, nature, or just believe in doing something small but meaningful to protect our environment, please consider donating. Any amount helps—and if you’re not able to give, please share this with others who might.
Thank you so much for your support and for helping bring the chimney swifts back home, Mara Warder.
