Bring Bear Home Fund
Donation protected
Smiling Bear suffered a severe stroke on November 3, 2015. As you may know he is self-employed and he now cannot walk, stand or use his right arm. He is making progress in the Rehabilitation Center at Encore. In order for him to come home, we will need certain modifications to our 1860-era home. It is our intention and prayers to be able to continue to be self-sufficient and not be a burden to anyone. We trust and believe that he will recover enough to return home again soon. We desperately need funds to make the necessary modifications to our living space.
The money raised from donations through Go Fund Me will be used to pay for materials to put a new front entry into our home. At this time the entry-way is too small for a wheelchair to enter. We will need a small bathroom with a seated shower, toilet and washstand on the first floor of our home. Currently, we only have one bathroom and it is on the second floor.
We will need a ramp from the driveway up to the new front door . It would be nice to have Smiling Bear be able to navigate his way into the kitchen area so he could feed himself.
I have arranged and received commitments from a few contract/builder/plumbers and electricians who will volunteer their services for this renovation. I am asking for funds (money) to buy the supplies for this job. The estimate is $25,000.
We need to gather the funds as soon as possible so the work described can get started. We do not have a release date from the Rehabilitation Center yet but it comes up fast. Winter is almost here and we need theses jobs done quickly and NOW.
Having Smiling Bear (aka Dennis K. Keilholtz) return to his home of 41 years will assure him that he is safe and sound and he will regain his inner strength much better and faster living here at what we call Sanctuary.
We have opened our home and hearts to many over the years of living here in Clarksville, Maryland. Folks come to get the love and light that Sanctuary brings to our community of like-minded friends and relatives. We so much appreciate your contributions and are thanking you in advance for all your anticipated help and funding.
