Torin Brooks is a dedicated rugby player who competes at the provincial, national, and international levels. Originally from Campbell River, he began playing rugby at the age of six, and the sport has remained a major part of his life both on and off the field. He values rugby for its inclusivity and the way it provides a place for every type of athlete, regardless of size. Torin believes that teamwork, grit, executing your role, and supporting your teammates are essential for success in the sport.
Throughout his rugby career, Torin has built a strong reputation among coaches and peers for his savage yet calculated defensive abilities and his fast paced offensive style. While he has recently been specializing as a scrum half, he has also gained experience playing flank, hook, centre, wing, and fullback. A true student of the game, he continually works to improve his skills and stay competitive.
As a full-time athlete, Torin has relocated from his hometown to train and compete with the MacDowell Rugby Academy. His goals in the coming years include continuing to elevate his play and competing at a high level. After graduating next year, he plans to play university level rugby while completing a degree in Anthropology.
Torin was recently selected to compete at the Global Youth 7s in Auckland, New Zealand from December 14–21, an honour that represents a significant opportunity to continue playing elite level rugby and further his goal of joining a university rugby program next fall.
