Buduburam is located in the Central Region of Ghana, approximately 45 kilometers from the capital, Accra. The tragedy is that about 65% of the children in Buduburam do not have access to quality education. 3 in every 5 school-going children do not have the means to go to school because parents and guardians cannot afford the expenses of school.

In Buduburam, many people live below the poverty threshold and are barely surviving on a dollar a day. There is little or minimal money for food, let alone to pay school fees and medical bills. Research conducted by Future Stars has shown that children, especially girls, are denied an education as they are forced into child labor or trafficked into another community to work, confined in the kitchen, or take care of younger siblings. The residents in the community, which also include Liberian refugees who have come to seek asylum in Ghana, are forced to contend with highly compromised living conditions including poor sanitation, high rate of unemployment, and poor housing among other challenges. This has a huge negative impact on children.

Future Stars is seeking child sponsorship for our brilliant but needy children to gain access to education in order to escape the lifestyle of poverty. Through educating orphans, we empower them to achieve their goals and become self-sufficient individuals equipped with knowledge and skills to care for themselves and their families.

✨ A recent milestone we are proud of: Sixteen of our students have successfully graduated from Junior High School — a remarkable achievement given the challenges they face. We are now seeking urgent support to help these bright young people continue their education at the Senior High School level, ensuring their hard work and potential are not lost due to financial barriers.
