Brierley Family Loses Kyle

Donation protected
I never dreamed that the day after one of our biggest races of the summer, and after spending the weekend with our Maah Daah Hey Family, we would have to say goodbye to a huge part of our team, Kyle we weren't ready to let you go.

Kyle died this morning while doing what he loves, trailwork.  A storm passed by after he finished and he was struck by lightning.  Kyle was headed to take on the Leadville 100 this coming weekend and had found enough time to squeeze in trailwork this morning after riding the MDH25 yesterday with his kids.

Of all the amazing people we have met through hosting races, Kyle is one of the most memorable and inspiring. I loved hearing him talk about how he used mountain biking to “get back in shape.” I loved how the Maah Daah Hey 100 was his first MTB race, ever, & he finished in the top 10 in the overall 100 miler. I loved seeing him progress in the sport, do well at other big races. But most of all I loved how hard he worked to keep all his time well balanced by spending time riding with his family. He brought his dad out for trail work on the Maah Daah Hey. He coached his kids and stoked their passion for the sport, often sacrificing his own training to make memories with them. And he always treated Bev Brierley so well, staying so patient and abnormally positive during challenges like when he had to take time out of his MDH150 race to change a flat tire on Bev’s car at one of the road/trail intersections. Kyle was an amazing and respectable guy who will be greatly missed.

Kyle always had a smile on his face and loved his beautiful wife Bev, he once told me how she takes such good care of him, he loved that about her.  He loved his two kids, his family, friends and all things biking.   He would help anyone in need, in anyway he could, always finding time to volunteer and give back to his community.

Kyle was the main provider for his family and their everything.  Please share, we would love to help with living expenses while they process this tragedy.
