Support Nick! Community Medic & Organizer Recovering from being wrongfully attacked & detained by DHS

We’re raising funds for our dear friend and community member, Nick, a Midcity Mercado volunteer, on the ground medic, and advocate. On July 17, 2025, Nick was wrongfully attacked and detained by DHS during one of the many protests in response to the recent wave of violent ICE raids in Los Angeles. After enduring five long days of unjust detention, Nick was finally released on July 22, 2025. He is now home, but he is left with the emotional, physical, and financial aftermath.

Anyone who has crossed paths with Nick knows the kind of person he is. Warm hearted, generous, and always quick to help others. Whether volunteering with Mercado or providing first aid at protests, Nick shows up for his community time and time again. Just a few weeks before his detention, he was injured by rubber bullets while providing emergency medical support. After only a few days of rest, he was back on the streets assisting those in need. That’s who Nick is.
