About Me...
I am a student at the Australian National University School of Music mid-way through my Honours year in Flute Performance studying under Virginia Taylor.
I have been accepted into a flute course in New York City with flutist Robert Dick – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! The course runs for four months across September to December, and I was one of only eight people from around the world to be accepted. I’m also the only flutist from Australia attending.
Robert Dick, known for his work with extended techniques and his creation the Glissando Headjoint, is hosting a course in Manhattan where the students and he will explore his own compositions, as well as look at the multitude of repertoire available to the flute.
I will be funding the cost of the course and my accommodation and living expenses. Any funds raised will go towards my flights to and from New York, and some general living costs while in the Big Apple.
Whilst I have been saving money for an opportunity such as this for years, any financial assistance will be greatly appreciated.
This is also the first time that I have gone overseas, so am rather nervous about heading off into the wide world. In saying this, I know that I’m going out with lots of support from friends and family, and will be getting to experience everything that New York has to offer!
