Support Richard's Stroke Recovery Journey

Hello, on Easter Sunday, while watching TV, my husband suffered a stroke in front of my 8-year-old son and myself. Initially, I didn’t know what was going on as he looked at me disoriented and unable to speak. He seemed dazed while he began to move his right arm up and down involuntarily. As I was trying to understand the situation, I saw the right side of his face droop, followed by him becoming paralyzed on his right side!

We immediately called 911, who responded to my home within minutes, and they were able to airlift my husband to the hospital. Once he arrived at the hospital, he required emergency surgery to remove a clot in his brain, which caused the stroke.

At this time, Richard was told that thanks to our quick response and action, he is still alive. However, he will have a long road ahead of him in order to regain his speech, motor skills, and body movement with intensive therapy and medication management.

This unfortunate situation has caused a tremendous impact on our family, emotionally and financially. I will no longer have the support of my husband in doing our daily home routine and meet childcare needs for our child. In addition, him being an Uber driver, he does not qualify for any work compensation or paid leave. I’m a social worker, and with my single income, it will be impossible to meet all of our current bills.

We are asking for some assistance in these challenging and trying times. Anything will help to get us through the next few weeks or months. We are praying and hoping for my husband to get healthy and be the man he used to be.
