Since 2010, Ana has worked as a program aide at Alzheimer's Family Services Center, providing direct care to individuals challenged by Alzheimer's disease or another dementia. She initially visited her doctor in November of 2013 after experiencing an increased shortness of breath, wheezing, and chronic fatigue. Thinking it was pneumonia, doctors performed a chest x-ray and found one spot on her lung. Ana was diagnosed with lung cancer. She underwent four sessions of chemotherapy, but was still not feeling well. Ana was hoping to come back to work in August, but a CT scan revealed additional spots on her brain. She is recovering from three weeks of radiation and is looking at different treatment options.

Ana's family has been very touched by the outpouring of support from family, friends, and coworkers.
