Ten years ago, I rescued Franklin—and from that moment on, he became my whole world. He’s been by my side through every chapter of my adult life but now he needs me.
The past few months have been incredibly overwhelming to say the least.
• December 2025: I bought my first home on my own
• January 2026: I started a full kitchen renovation (will stay a non-functioning one until these credit card bills are paid off because his care is of utmost importance)
• January & February: Two emergency vet visits totaling over $2,500+ and a specialist visit to confirm his need for an LCL reconstruction surgery
• March: $6,000+ surgery for Franklin’s leg
Yesterday, Franklin underwent crucial surgery to repair a torn lateral ligament in his back leg. The anxiety of him at the vet for over 30 hours was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced—but he’s finally home and beginning his recovery.
On top of this, Franklin also lives with IVDD and osteoarthritis in both back legs so he will need ongoing care—including medications, physical therapy and hydro rehabilitation starting in April—to regain strength after not using his leg for nearly two months.
The vet bills and recovery costs are piling up quickly and to make things even more stressful, I was just laid off yesterday. I’m doing everything I can, but I’m looking to my community for some support which is really difficult for me to do but his care means more to me than the vulnerability of asking for help. If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to me and help Franklin get the care he needs to be comfortable again. However, please don’t feel any pressure if you’re unable to. Sharing this, my 5 star rover profile for care, or sending Franklin some love / well wishes for a speedy recovery is just as appreciated.
Thank you for supporting my best friend
