Hi, My Name is Melissa and I'm creating this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Yesenia Morel. Since I can remember she has been a strong woman. I remember when she used to babysit me she was just "so cool", I would think can't wait to grow up and be just like her. Yesenia grew up to be a hard-working mom, not only taking care of five children of her own but fostering her niece who at the time needed a safe and loving home. Life has been challenging for her and her family but despite that, she has a son who is in the Navy and now has a son who got a full ride to college this year, needless to say, she and my brother-in-law are doing something right. I have never heard these people complain, these kids complain EVER. Especially when there were times they didn't know where they were going to sleep, she would always say I trust where the lord is taking me and my family. Last year around September, she got a call for a job that was paying her the most she ever gotten paid, it was near her house and she would be doing what she loved which was helping others, the hours were great so she was still able to provide and spend time with the little ones. Dee her hard-working husband is a stage 3 cancer survivor, and last year just battled cancer for the 2nd time. Due to the chemo that he had received he has permanent damage and is unable to work so he made sure that his kids were taken care of while she worked. They are a great team and an example of what resilience is. Unfortunately, in October she was feeling ill and went to the hospital only to find out she has stage four colon cancer. WTF! that's all we can say! She was in the hospital for over a month with different surgeries and blood transfusions. She missed my wedding something we both wanted to experience together, She now has a colostomy bag and is receiving a brutal amount of chemo hoping to be that small percentage to beat this scary disease. Obviously, due to that, she lost her job so her husband thought to try and at least get a part-time.., BUT after just three days his health declined due to him being on his feet for too long, the chemo he had been on gave him a bad case of neuropathy, Loss of hearing in one ear and his sugar elevated to dangerous levels I'm sure due to the pain and his stress levels. So I ask if you have it in your hearts to help me raise money so they can be comfortable while she kicks this cancer's butt! and so she can live out her purpose in life. The money will be for bills, medical expenses, rent and car payments and food for their large family! Thank you all, it truly takes a village and it took a lot for them to give me the ok to do this.
