Law School Tuition
0% complete
$4,765 raised of $60K

Hi everyone, I am starting this Go Fund Me to support my Intelligent, Tenacious and Strong friend who is starting Law School and is trying to avoid huge student loans. As a single Mom with 3 children she will have plenty of opportunity for those in the future ! I understand how hard it is to ask for support so I am doing this on her behalf because I believe in her and I don't want her to have any of those huge student loans!
For transparency purposes I can and have set her up as the only person who can withdraw the money, so it will never see me or my bank account! LOL
Please read her story and consider offering your support. ANY support is greatly appreciated and if you can't financially offer any support that is totally understandable and I would ask that you consider sharing this on your social media or with any friends who would be interested in supporting this woman on her journey to making change.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

Hi, My name is Alise and I am an African American, single mother of three children entering Law School in the Fall. I am hoping to raise a total of $60,000 to cover tuition and books for four years. I will be working a full-time position to be able to support my children, but that alone will not be sufficient to pay for law school. I am asking for assistance in making my long-term dream of becoming an attorney and later Butte County's first African American judge a reality.
Now, more than ever it is important that African Americans pursue careers of the legal and legislative fields. It is imperative that we seek change by being the change. That we look to make change in our Courtrooms and Congress.
An African American female attorney is a unicorn in Butte County. The statistics according to the ABA are that African Americans make up 10.5% of Attorneys in America. The statistics for African American women Attorneys make up even less. It is time for a change! Help me be that change. Help me to increase the percentage not only by becoming an attorney, but advocating and mentoring for others to follow. It doesn't stop with me; it begins when we invest in each other. Lifting each other up one by one.
My vision is a Legal Resources Hub wherein we have a comprehensive one stop of services where families leave empowered, not overwhelmed by an
insurmountable to do list. I want to create a safe space in which hours of operation are not defined by standard business hours.
With electronic filing at our disposal we would have the flexibility to manage court documents more efficiently. I want to cease imposing further barriers and create better opportunities for healing and recovery.
Through my experience working with families in crisis and trauma as well as having been a part of childhood and adult domestic violence experiences in my personal life, I am well acquainted with the challenges the judicial system can present. I have witnessed parents struggle with the choice of getting government assistance or staying in an abusive relationship because their partner controls the purse strings. This allows their abusers to further inflict trauma by holding them captive monetarily. Most choose the painful familiar path, praying their partner will change. As a Social Worker, the resources I have to offer are often inadequate and scarce. Rarely are they enough to provide for the needed solutions.
I will no longer ignore this problem.
Now, is the time to go beyond protests and seek action through a viable solution. It is time to insert diversity into the system that we long to change. It is time for us to have an active ongoing voice, not just when one of our lives is taken but every day until laws and behaviors are changed. It is time to speak in arenas where we can influence legal change.
I am asking you to invest in the solution. Even if you do not donate to my cause, I am asking that you take a look to see if you are able to mentor or give an apprenticeship to a young African American woman or man in your field of expertise.
Thank you for your consideration
