On September 29th 2021, our lives changed forever when my brother-in-law lost his battle against Covid-19. I never in the world imagined waking up to my sissy calling me full of tears and unable to verbalize that my brother-in-law lost his fight to the virus. I notified our dad who immediately got in his vehicle to drive to my sisters so she would not have to be alone to tell my three young nephews that their daddy would not be coming home from the hospital. My heart breaks for my three sweet nephews who suddenly have become fatherless, something they now will live with for their entire lives. Sadly, the boys have lost their hero, rock and Daddy to the horrific virus. My sister lost her best friend, husband, and father of their three boys to COVID, also the family's only source of income. Their beautiful family has been left clinging to a life raft in the middle of a terrible storm. Presently, our family isn't close enough to even help with the burden of even menial daily tasks.
My brother in law, Chet Thomas was an army Veteran. My sister and Chet have been married for the past 13 years. Chet and my sister had their first two boys overseas in Korea. Chet had a dream to attend college and obtain a degree in aviation science and prior to getting sick was finally able to go back to school and was at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Chet was an exemplary role model for his sons. Many dinner conversations would center around Daddy's studies of which he was very proud to share with his sons. Chet’s focus was always on his family, wanting nothing more than to see his boys grow up and succeed in school and life. My sister would always say “he is the glue that holds us all together.”
Chet’s family could use some financial support to get through the coming months as his passing has left a huge hole in their lives, not only emotionally but also financially. My sister now has to transition from a stay at home Mom, to a single working Mother. Any donation in support of the boys would be the best way we can think of to honor his memory. The funds would be put towards the boys basic and immediate needs during this time of turmoil and transition to help ease finances.
My oldest nephew Caleb is 11, his favorite subject is science and he enjoys being in the band, taekwondo and soccer. He has aspirations to continue to do well in school, as well as his upcoming performances and competitions. Eric, my middle nephew, 10, is also in taekwondo and soccer. Eric always tells me his favorite subject is PE class. Zackary, the youngest, 3, is the sunshine in their family and brings smiles to us all during this terribly sad time. One of Zack’s favorite things is watching airplanes take off and fly in the sky.
This is one of the worst thing I could ever imagine happening to a family. This continues to be a difficult transition for my nephews having to learn to grieve and live without their dad. They need love, prayers and any gift given to help cover expenses and ease financial burden during this time is truly a blessing and greatly appreciated. Thank you for your kindness and any generosity you may give is greatly cherished.
May God Bless you,
