Hope for Jonathan

This is Jonathan. He was born 22 years ago with a condition known as Microcephaly (where the brain does not fully develop), and has  bravely outlived every medical prediction. He is unable to walk or talk, and has been immaculately looked after (full-time)    by his mother, Liz, who also lost her husband suddenly 13 years ago. Many people have been inspired over the years by the dedication and love with which Liz has cared for and fought for Jonathan's care.

Three weeks ago Jonathan was rushed to hospital in severe pain, having been vomiting for some time. The doctors found  obstructions in his digestive system and have told them there are too many complications to conduct any further tests or treatment. Jonathan and Liz are in Australia visiting family, and are unable to travel home to Malaysia. 

So, we are asking for help on their behalf. While Jonathan is receiving the best medical care in Australia, due to his  condition he is not covered by health insurance or medicare. This means that every hospital visit and medical bill is out of  their own pocket and through the support of family and friends. Due to the severity of his current condition, his inability to fly home, and the unknown nature of how long his condition will last, they have had to reschedule their flights back to Malaysia.

We are seeking to raise money for the following expenses, in support of Liz, Jonathan and Joanna Thomas (Jonathan’s sister)

- Hospital and medication expenses already incurred ($5,500)
- Round the clock at-home nursing care 
- Medications (not covered by PBS)
- Ongoing medical consultations
- Visa extension
- Flight changes 

Many people have been touched by Jonathan's story, and the family are truly grateful for the thoughts, prayers, and support of friends both in Malaysia and around the world.
