Diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Donation protected
Hi my name is Consuela Hall as many of you know I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Here is my story I worked in the hospital as a therapist taking care of patients until being diagnosed with AML. I had just returned home from vacation with my husband and hadn’t been feeling well for about a month. I went to the Dr. and they diagnosed me with a upper respiratory infection, placed me on steroids and an antibiotic, this happened twice. As my vacation/anniversary approached I wondered if I should go on our planned trip or not however the money had been paid and there really was no reason to cancel. Little did I know that flying would be so dreadful. After our first flight ✈️ as we were try to maneuver from one terminal to the next the pain in my legs caused me to have difficulties that I never imagined. I began to think what is wrong with me. Long story short we make it through vacation with me resting most of the day and walking short periods of the time. We get home and I tell my husband I have to go to the Dr something is seriously wrong. We get to the Doctor and they say prednisone and flying the perfect storm. They give me a prescription for diuretics and send me home. I was to sick and weak to go get it. The next morning after being up coughing and in pain. I go pick up my puppy Izzy we get home and my Apple Watch says HR 184 at this time I do a ECG on my watch and it say hi to the hospital. I call my husband and tell him he has to come home I think I am having a heart attack. I get to the hospital I am short of breath my heart is pounding out of my chest. They immediately take me back hook me up to monitors and start working to get my heart rate down at this point I am in SVT and need either adenosine or to be shocked. Adenosine worked thank God. They do labs and come back and say Mrs Hall the good news is we have your heart back in a normal Sinus Rhythm but your labs show a white count of that is extremely high and the only way that can happen is if you have leukemia. I thought my heart would stop again. She then said we have spoken to UVA and they have accepted you as a patient. We will be transferring you soon.

My life as I knew it would never be the same. AML is rare they say only 1% of the population get it. As most of you know a cancer diagnosis changes your life. My whole world was upside down. I was hospitalized for 30 days at UVA I have just been discharged two days. I have insurance they my husband thank God however the bills are mounting, the medicine that I take daily, the cost of gas to go to and from oncology which is over an hour from my home that can treat my type of cancer. And on and on as you know just day to day expenses. So many people have asked how can I help? I have said to pray for healing and I truly mean that, but financially I could use help in any amount that anyone wants to donate. I have a long road ahead of me and I plan to fight and with God’s help live a long healthy life in remission. Anything that you can do will be appreciated. Thank you!
