Tami Lynn Hartman Graham is battling the fight of her life and one that has and will continue to affect the lives of the two small sons that she still has at home, her husband Brad and everyone else that knows and loves her.
Tami has been diagnosed with acute liver disease and has been hospitalized for six weeks. She was admitted to McKay Dee hospital on the 14th of August, but was then transferred to the University of Utah Hospital and subsequently to the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City. She has gone through MRIs, CT scans, a bone density scan, Ultra sounds and a myriad of other tests and has finally been accepted to be put on a list for liver transplant. For the last year Tami has had issues with her liver due to a predisposed hereditary liver disorder that was accelerated by the Gastric bypass, bleeding ulcers {twice}, the stress of surgeries, gastric complications, anemia, low potassium and sodium and the stress of losing her job, her income as well as her house.
Tami was told in 2009 that she had an enlarged liver when she went in for her gastric bypass and that it may correct itself after the surgery. In November of 2014 she was rushed to the hospital for internal bleeding due to an ulcer that was at the point of insertion of the small intestine to the stomach pouch. The doctors quickly cauterized the ulcer and Tami received 3 units of blood and was admitted to the ICU at McKay Dee Hospital where she eventually recovered. The loss of time on the job had put her and Brad in a bind, but that was not the end of their troubles. Tami had problems keeping food down and at times displayed symptoms that would be mistaken by many of us as intoxication. She would slur her words, stagger when she walked, she seemed disoriented, and her thoughts would be incoherent. Tami’s eyes and skin would turn yellow. Little did we know that these are all signs of liver disease.
Tami had been working 2 part time jobs, and taking courses from The University of Phoenix. She is only two classes away from completeing her Bacholors degree in social work and Psychology. She also was raising two children and taking care of household chores. She has hopes to complete her degree when she gets out of the hospital.
Tami has kept herself in good spirits for the most part, but the battle is far from over. She still has to go through the liver transplant surgery. There will be a rough road to recovery and there will be out of pocket medical expenses that are still due to be determined. Her personal finances of course are still needing to be met. She is in the process of minimizing expenditures and negotiating with existing debtors to reduce the amount owed.
We are asking anyone who can assist her in a donation to please do so. If everyone we know could donate even $20 then this go fund me account could be in the millions and Tami and I could go to the Bahamas. Ok, so my math sucks, and my priorities are questionable. But seriously… so many people that we know have said “If there is anything you need, if there is anything that I can do, just let me know.” Well I’m asking.
Please help Tami out.
