Hi, My name is Jerry Kuna and I have been a friend of Cal's working with him at Compaq, Foxconn and Flex. Both Cal Monteith's house and his mother's both were inundated. Cal had 62" of floodwaters in his house. (the picture is of his house)He did not have flood insurance which was common for most of the houses that flooded.
Cal has spent his life helping others on mission trips to South America, ministering at the Cowboy Church or participating in mounted search and rescues on his horse. He always has been a man of his work and very proud to call himself a native Texan.
We estimate that the repairs to Cal's house alone can exceed $150,000. The repairs include replacing much of the eletricals on the first floor, installing 8 feet of new sheetrock on the walls, new insulation, replacing all appliances, new cabinets, installing new floors and possibly new window. This does not include replacing all of the furniture and clothing that was on the first floor of his house.
What is needed most are cash and prayers. FEMA will provide a small grant that would cover less than 5% of the costs to rebuild. Prayers are needed to lift up Cal and his wife during the rebuilding process.
Funds are needed immediately to remove the debris inside the house and remediate both for mold and bacteria from the water. Once the house is dried out, the rebuilding process can start.
Cal and I have been friends and colleagues for over 30 years. i am very proud to call him a friend. I ask that you join me in supporting Cal and his family to help him get past this traumatic episode of his life.
