Hi friends, family, dog lovers, and lovers/supporters of dog lovers -
I am writing with an urgent plea for assistance for my beloved dog, Nibby, a basenji/pit mix who has been with me for 5 years.
Two days ago, my other dog Gusto suddenly attacked Nibby for getting too close to his food bowl - a shock because Gusto has been part of the family for 3 years and the two usually get along great. But it happened, and here we are.
Nibby was in the ICU at the emergency vet for many hours but pulled through like the trooper that she is. She is still in pain but in stable condition at the vet. She now needs major surgery on her chest and leg so that she can heal fully and walk again.
The cost of the surgery is estimated at $5,000-$6,000. I have paid $1,000 but I do not have the funds to pay any more. The vet where she is (she is too fragile to be moved) does not do payment plans, and they must receive at least some of the remainder of the cost before performing the surgery.
Anyone who knows Nibby knows that she is an incredibly loving, lively dog, with tons of affection for everyone she meets. She is such an important part of my life, and more importantly, she deserves the chance to live a long, full, healthy life.
I am sorry that I have to ask for your help with this, but that is my situation right now. I can offer deep gratitude and writerly gifts as rewards - not much, but it's what I can do!
Anything you can give would be much appreciated.
I am also searching for a home for Gusto where he can be the only pet. He is a great dog, awesome with people 100% of the time and with dogs 99% of the time, but obviously that 1% is too important to ignore. If you or anyone you know would be interested in adopting him, please let me know.
