On July 12th, Katherine, a mother of two, suffered a tragic and sudden injury to her spine that has left her paralyzed from the chest down. Katherine was medevacked to HSC where she had to undergo a lengthy neurology surgery to stabilize her spine to prevent and further damage to her heart or lungs. She is currently in the SICU for close monitoring after the procedure where she is receiving one-to-one nursing, critical medications, and ventilation to increase her chances of regaining any mobility or movement below her chest. The medical team is unsure about how much can be achieved but are adamant that Katherine will never be able to walk again. We are raising funds to cover expenses while she is in Winnipeg for medical care, and for her family so they can stay with her and offer the much needed love and support she deserves.
